Anne Lister Teas was written by Alison Field co-founder of This Place Arts. A site-specific piece written for Halifax Minster to be performed during The Festival of Women in March 2025. Here we meet the silent army of women who cater for the culinary and emotional needs of the visitors to the Minster. They are volunteers who expect little praise or thanks and seldom receive any. They are providers and guardians of the proverbial bunfight, but also highly competent, intelligent women with diverse life experiences. Here we begin to recognise their value and contribution, not only to Minster life, but as symbols of the millions of women who generously provide hospitality to ensure community events happen.
